Review: Edwin’s Elixirs

Edwin's Elixirs
My one and only previous experience with Edwin’s products was a decidedly unimpressed review of their gummies early in the life of this blog, before I had standardized my testing conditions. Perhaps my more refined process will be more favorable to Edwin’s Elixirs?

Test 1 (10 mg)

As with all THC beverages I test, this one has 10 mg of THC. I have long since given up on the 5 mg drinks, as they were just too weak to judge fairly.

I should start off by saying I love root beer. It’s by far the best of the beers. It’s not even close. So I was excited to have a big, cold can of root beer with my rotisserie chicken dinner – for about a minute.

Edwin’s might be the sugariest, chemicaliest root beer I’ve ever tasted. The taste was so powerfully unpleasant that I ended up just chugging the can rather than wash down every succulent bite of chicken with a sugar-flavored, sugar beer, with a hint of root. Almost 24 hours later I’m still getting a phantom, sugary aftertaste in my mouth once in a while. The can says “Great, non-acrid taste.” They might want to consider throwing a dash acrid in there to cut the sugar taste. Awful.

However, in terms of onset and potency, Edwin’s Elixirs did better than average. Onset took about 30 minutes (average), but this was a noticeably stronger buzz than I usually get from THC drinks. I hit peak buzz quickly, about 45 minutes after the first sip, which was comparable to a 5 mg edible. Most THC drinks give me a sub-par buzz, even with the 10 mg THC content.

I detected a slight fade just before the three-hour mark, which is also about average for THC beverages.

The straight dope on Edwin’s Elixirs

In short, not a fan. The buzz was fine, but the taste is abhorrent. I might try one of the other flavors someday, but I have to wait for this aftertaste to disappear.
